Our Fastest, Most Advanced VersaCAMM

The VS-640 brings the last 20 years of innovation and expertise to one device, including integrated printing and contour cutting capabilities, next generation print head technology and accelerated print speeds all in a 64” platform. Available in three ink configurations, it is also capable of printing white text, graphics and floods and hundreds of brilliant metallic colors for premium graphics and wraps. Priced affordably, the VersaCAMM VS-640 is both an exceptional value and a powerful production tool.

Metallic Silver Effects

The VS-640 produces gold, silver and other metallic effects on demand. Unlike offset and flexo presses, the VS-640 has no plates to process, making production easy, seamless and cost effective.

Featuring Metallic Silver ECO-SOL MAX ink, the VS-640 allows professionals to take full advantage of Roland’s advanced inkjet technology.  Thousands of metallic colors are available, adding value and sophistication to any graphic or marketing message. Metallic Silver ECO-SOL MAX ink has been recognized as a DPI Product of the Year, an accolade that reflects its exceptional image quality.

Automated Ink Circulation System

To prevent the pigments in metallic silver and white inks from settling, the VS-640 comes with Roland’s unique, patent-pending automated ink circulation system.  The system automatically reduces waste of white and metallic silver ink for dramatically lower running costs. The system ensures exceptional image quality throughout the longest production runs.

VersaWorks RIP Software

VersaWorks RIP software has been developed exclusively for Roland inkjet printers and printer/cutters. This true Adobe PostScript 3 RIP ensures exceptional production output with unmatched ease of use and incorporates the latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine.

VersaWorks supports the Roland Color system which accurately reproduces spot colors from color charts and swatch books including more than 1,000 standard colors and 512 metallic colors. For white ink applications, you can select from either single pass or dual pass modes.

With VersaWorks, you can choose from print options including a high-speed mode for production banner printing, the MAX Impact preset for vivid outdoor graphics and Artistic mode for exceptional indoor graphics. In addition, VersaWorks features Variable Data Printing and supports up to four Roland devices simultaneously including printers, printer/cutters and cutters.  It automatically estimates the ink usage and print time for each graphic so you can accurately monitor time and costs.

VersaWorks features include embedded ICC profile support, ink level adjustment tools, software proofing capabilities, error diffusion for outstanding print quality and advanced cropping, tiling and nesting options.  Support for Roland cutters allows you to pair a Roland cutter with any wide-format or desktop printer for print/cut applications.  The PerfCut function produces precision perforated cut lines.  VersaWorks 4.0 is fully compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2000.

Print/Cut Advantage

The VS-640 streamlines the production process by automatically contour cutting printed graphics. By eliminating the need to reload and reposition graphics, the VS-640 integrated printer/cutter saves valuable time and effort.

Quadralign™

For laminating graphics, simply remove prints, laminate and reload them for precision cutting. The Quadralign four-point optical registration system automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion. The VS-640 also functions as stand-alone vinyl cutter.

ECO-SOL MAX Ink

ECO-SOL MAX is a remarkable innovation in ink technology, offering fast drying time, high density, wide color gamut, rugged scratch resistance, low cost per square foot, and broad uncoated media support. In addition, ECO-SOL MAX is virtually odorless.

For the standard VS-640 configuration, ECO-SOL MAX comes in CMYK+Lc+Lm+Mt+W ink sets (220ml cartridges).  A double CMYK model is also available (KYMCCMYK).  ECO-SOL MAX graphics are water and UV resistant up to 3 years outdoors* for CMYK graphics, up to 1 year outdoors for White ink and 1-3 years outdoors for Metallic Silver ink.

* Outdoor durability is based on accelerated weather tests. Results may vary depending upon location and application. Dry times vary depending on specific media characteristics. Lamination may be required for some applications or environmental conditions.

Roland Intelligent Pass Control Technology

Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology developed by Roland software engineers represents the pinnacle of inkjet printing. This patent-pending system precisely controls dot placement between passes and delivers unprecedented imaging performance in all resolutions. The technology actually enhances image quality at higher print speeds thereby increasing productivity. As a result, the VS-640 produces smooth gradations and flawless solid colors while achieving faster throughput with virtually no banding in all print modes.

New 8-Channel Print Head Technology

The VS-640 features Roland’s most advanced print head to date featuring variable droplet technology that automatically combines droplets of varying sizes to optimize image quality.  With the new technology, seven droplet sizes are available.  As a result, the VS-640 delivers exceptional quality prints that display smooth gradations when viewed up close.

Print Speeds

The VS-640 achieves print speeds of up to 248.6 sqft./hr. for CMYK applications. its unique design as a combination printer/cutter further expedites the production cycle, allowing you to print and contour cut your designs together – even unattended – in one easy step.

Advanced Media Handling

A true production printer, the VS-640 features an advanced media handling system allowing users to feed rolls up to 88 lbs.  Upgraded media flanges and seven pinch rollers secure the heaviest media in place for accurate feeding and tracking through long production runs. Adjustable print heads enable you to accommodate variable media thicknesses.

Integrated Heating System

Roland printers are designed to dry prints quickly even in high-speed modes for immediate finishing, installation and collection by the take-up system. The VS-640 features a built-in 2-stage integrated heater system to accommodate a wide range of media options. This advanced system precisely controls the proper amount of heat for each application, yielding outstanding results every time. For maximum convenience, users can store individual settings right in the printer.

High-Speed Network Connection

Equipped with Roland’s own 100 BASE-TX/10 BASE-T interface, the VS-640 connects seamlessly to office networks without additional software, achieving an increased data transmission rate of 100 Mb/sec. This makes it easy to configure a highly efficient printing environment.

ECO-SOL Media

ECO-SOL Media is developed especially for Roland ECO-SOL MAX ink and includes a wide selection of competitively priced, uncoated adhesive-backed vinyls and other popular substrates. The line-up currently consists of glossy, matte, clear and translucent calendered, premium cast vinyl, premium reflective vinyl, view-through vinyl, flame retardant scrim banner, blockout scrim banner and solvent glossy paper. All Roland media is carefully tested and profiled to consistently achieve high-quality results.

Roland OnSupport Online Production Assistance

The VS-640 features Roland OnSupport, an online customer support system allowing users to remotely track the status of VS-640 activities.  The system sends e-mails to users notifying them of important information such as when a job is completed and when ink is running low.  With Roland OnSupport, users can also quickly download firmware updates and important product information by accessing an exclusive website with just one mouse click.

New Wiper System

The VS-640 includes a combination of standard wipers and additional side wipers which reduce the maintenance issues caused by ink reservoirs and dust.  As a result, fewer manual cleanings are required.
